I hear a teacher saying that to Thea Kronberg.

{Perhaps the reference could be in Cather's "Shadows on the Rock"
For some direction, see http://www.willacather.org/education/teachers-a-students/443-shadows-on-the-rock?start=2 especially the paragraph that starts "The most enclosed of the women..."

Amy and Tracy,
I don't recognize that as an exact phrase from Cather, but it is certainly evocative of many moments in Cather. I would be curious to know a bit more context as even rattling off list of texts involving teacher-students and motifs of female divinity would include a lot of Cather's texts.
If I had to hazard a guess...
With the phrase's almost pentacostal bent, I would look at "The Joy of Nelly Dean."
Lucy Gayheart and The Song of the Lark would be my other prime candidates.

Hi,
I think that line is from George Bernard Shaw's Pygmalion. I don't recall it in Cather.

Hello, gentle folk.
Can any of you shed any light on this request? TokenX doesn't seem to find this exact phrase, nor did "The Best Years" seem to bear fruit this morning on a very quick read. Did I miss it?
Dear friends of Willa Cather,

If so, please provide me with the title of that story and, perhaps, the name of the book in which it appeared. I'll be forever grateful.
