I'm sorry to hear about the Vintage edition of One of Ours no longer being available. This must be quite recent: I taught it in Fall 2017, and our bookstore was able to get copies for about 35 students with no problem.

Vintage just published a 100th anniversary edition of My Antonia, thanks to the influence of the Cather Foundation (Andy, I think you were central in this effort - apologies if I am leaving crucial others out). Do we have any pull with Vintage? I hate to think of One of Ours being out of print. It has always gone over quite well with my students.

Best,
Julie

Yes, I actually dropped teaching *One of Ours* this time around for my Cather Seminar because I didn’t feel as if there was a decent text out there. Wouldn’t it be nice if the U of Nebraska Press could make the Scholarly Editions of the exorbitantly-priced hardcovers “print-on-demand”?

Best wishes,

Subject: [5BANKSTREET] One of Ours out of print?

Hello all,

I’m co-teaching with a British history prof a course next fall entitled “1918: Anglo-American Culture and Society in a World at War.”  I want to teach One of Ours as our American novel of the war and I ordered the Vintage edition, but our bookstore is saying it’s out of print. Really???!!!

I know that some might say I should use the SE, but we’re trying to keep costs down.  The other editions available on Amazon are those “Create Space” Publisher editions (predatory publishers?).

What’s going on?  What editions are you all using?  How can this go out of print in 2018!
